The Pease District Park is a public park located in the heart of Austin. The Pease District Park was once part of the original ‘townsite’ of Austin when it was first developed in the mid-19th century. The townsite consisted of 512 acres with several hundred homes. Today, only about 30% of what was once the original town site remains as a result of development. However, this does not mean that there are not still some great features to be found within the park! The main feature of Pease District Park is Lake Burton, which is an artificial lake created by damming a natural creek known as Onion Creek that flows through the center of the park.
